Arai Corsair-X Solid Adult Motorcycle Helmet - Black/X-Large

The Arai Corsair-X Helmet has taken helmet technology and rider protection one step further by engineering a helmet that not only guards against direct impacts but is also specifically designed to minimize the forces of "glancing off" impacts. Constructed from super fiber and other special synthetic fibers developed for F-1 helmet visor panels, the helmet is assembled and bonded by Arai experts. A specially-developed resin creates stronger bonds between the shell materials with less weight, resulting in a shell with superb tensile strength due to a variety of carefully-positioned materials and lightweight resin. The helmet is DOT Approved and meets FMVSS 218 standards.

The Corsair-X Helmet features the exclusive VAS (Variable Axis System) shield and side pods. The variable axis (moving pivot point) allows the shield mount position to be lower than most helmets, which is made possible by the dual-function lever that releases both the side pod and the face shield for quick and simple face shield removal. The larger latch design allows for intuitive and seamless operation, and the VAS MAX Vision shield, which comes standard with a clear anti-fog Pinlock insert, provides better visibility in all seasons and for all types of riding.

Normally, the shield mounting position must remain relatively high because a lower shield pivot will not allow the shield to open or close. However, the VAS (Variable Axis System) has a variable axis (moving pivot point), which allows shield opening and closing even with the lower shield position. This design feature is crucial in minimizing the forces of "glancing off" impacts, as the smoother shape and lower positioning of the side pods and shield are more likely to redirect impact energy rather than absorb it, thereby decreasing the amount of force transferred to the rider's body.
